My FootDr Stafford has once again rallied the community to find pre-loved running shoes to donate to Shoes For Planet Earth, a non-profit organisation that provides local and international communities with footwear.
Shoes For Planet Earth was started in 2009 by people who love to run and want to give something back and first partnered with My FootDr Stafford (formerly Podiatry Point) in 2014. In that time the team at My FootDr has collected over 1,000 shoes to donate.
Led by the My FootDr Stafford podiatry team of Nick Childs, Natalie Truong, Kieren Gallagher, Tiffany Bourne and receptionists Chloe Perry and Georgie Gorton, this year the clinic has collected another great haul of men’s, women’s and children’s running shoes.
“We see patients in the wrong shoe or they’ve bought a shoe and worn it to the point where it’s no longer suitable for them, and rather than leaving them to sit unused in their wardrobe they’re being put to good use,” Ms Truong said.
“We’ve collected around over 100 pairs already following a tremendous response from the community. We treat a lot of park runners, and they’ve really rallied together to help us out.
“Most of the shoes are in excellent condition and nothing makes us happier to know that these shoes are being recycled and given out to the local community through the indigenous programs, but also to those most in need”.
